Favourite Things: Clothing

Clothing has always been about more to me than simply having something to wear.

What we choose to put on each day can influence how we see ourselves, how we carry ourselves and, ultimately, how we move through the world. But, that doesn’t mean we need an endless wardrobe, or a constant stream of something new.

Over the years, I have become far more interested in finding the pieces that simply work.

The brands included here are ones I genuinely wear and return to. They may differ in price, or purpose, but they have all earned their place.

I look for quality, versatility and longevity, but also for something less tangible: “does it feel like me?

A successful wardrobe isn’t built by collecting everything we like. It is built by understanding ourselves well enough to recognise what deserves to come home with us.

There are brands I return to because I know their cut works for me. Pieces I have owned for years and still love wearing. And purchases that remind me that when we choose carefully, we often need far less than we think.

These are my favourites; not because they are the newest or the most fashionable, but because they have proven themselves where it matters most.

In my actual wardrobe, and in my actual life.

I love all things, not only the grand but the infinitely small: thimble, spurs, plates, flower vases.
