Favourite Things: Fragrance

Some things we experiment with throughout our lives. Others simply become part of who we are.

For me, fragrance falls firmly into the latter.

I have worn Samsara by Guerlain since I was 17 years old. While fashions have changed, beauty trends have come and gone, and my own style has evolved over the years, my fragrance has remained remarkably constant.

There is something deeply personal about fragrance. Unlike clothing, which the world can see, scent is more intimate. It becomes associated with memories, places, people and particular chapters of our lives. Worn for long enough, it can become almost inseparable from the person wearing it.

Samsara has become that for me.

I haven’t spent years searching for a signature fragrance or building a collection of perfumes for different moods and occasions. I found something I loved very young, and I stayed with it.

Perhaps that is why it belongs so naturally within Favourite Things.

This section isn’t about accumulating options. It’s about recognising the things that genuinely work for us and allowing ourselves to stop searching when we have already found them.

Personal style isn’t always about reinvention. Sometimes it is about consistency; those small signatures we carry with us as we grow and change.

For me, one of those signatures has always been Samsara.

My favourite thing is to go where I’ve never gone before.
